DULUTH — An advocacy group dedicated to ending human trafficking is planning to provide training to nearly a dozen tribal communities in Minnesota.

The Native Sisters Society announced at a Monday event in Duluth that it will begin training 11 different tribal communities in the state throughout the next three years. The tribal organization met with other advocacy groups and leaders to raise awareness of the issue of human trafficking.

April Smith of the Native Sisters Society said it’s time to take action as a community and move forward with survivors at the forefront of the effort to stop human trafficking.
