Lloyd Wayne Darg passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2014, at the age of 84. Lloyd was born in 1930, the son of Floyd and Wilhelmina Darg. Lloyd was preceded in death by both his father and mother and by his
brother, Victor Darg.
Lloyd spent most of his youth in Albert Lea where he graduated high school in 1948. He served with the U.S. Marines in Korea during the early 1950s. Lloyd was married to Carol Lindell in 1955. The couple had three children and were married for over 59 years. They resided in New Hope and were members of House of Hope Lutheran church for almost 50 years.
Lloyd attended Mankato State University, Hamline College and the University of Minnesota, where he graduated with a degree in structural engineering in 1960. He worked as a structural engineer the remainder of his life. In 1968 Lloyd started Darg Engineering, which is now known as Darg, Bolgrean and Menk. Lloyd also volunteered in his later years, working at PRISM in Golden Valley and helping persons with head injuries at the District No. 281 location at Sandburg Middle School.
Lloyd’s many hobbies and interests included golf, tennis, attending many church and social functions, walking outdoors and spending time with his adoring family. He had many friends from many walks of life — some of whom he had known since his youth.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Carol Darg; his children Beth Darg (Dan Ostrom), Julie Peters (David Peters) and Phil Darg (Jules Darg); his grandson, Sam Peters; his siblings Ken Darg, Darrel Darg and Elaine Jordan; six step-grandchildren, Jeff, Tony and Jenny Ostrom, and Hayley, Evan and Gina Peters; and two step-great-grandchildren, Hannah and Maria Ostrom.
