HAYWARD — An elderly man was found frozen to death outside of his home in rural Hayward Thursday afternoon.

Authorities believe Casper Kycek, 83, suffered from a medical condition while outside his home, 17671 810th Ave., said Freeborn County Sheriff Kurt Freitag.

Kycek appeared to have tried to get back into the house but did not make it, Freitag said.

He essentially froze to death a few feet from his front door.

He was found by his niece at 1:29 p.m. Thursday.

No foul play is suspected.
