Fundraiser to benefit soldiers

The Yellow Ribbon project sponsored by Albert Lea’s American Legion Post 56 will host a Flea Market & Craft Show at the American Legion Post 56 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 27 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 28.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to the Nation of Patriots 2015 tour. Lunch will be provided by the American Legion for attendees. The Nation of Patriots will display the 2015 Nation of Patriots Tour information during the craft show and flea market, and volunteers will be present to share past tour successes and information on past awards presented to Combat Wounded Veterans.
This year’s ceremonies include reception of the flag from Eden Prairie at Bergdale Harley-Davidson on Sept. 1, complete with Honor Guard reception. The flag will be escorted on Sept. 2 from Bergdale Harley-Davidson in Albert Lea by Nation of Patriots riders to Zylstra Harley-Davidson in Ames, Iowa.
All proceeds raised from the Nation of Patriots during the flea market and during the flag escort are used to financially assist combat wounded soldiers and their dependents. All members of the Nation of Patriots are volunteers allowing 100 percent of the funds raised to go directly to veterans’ assistance with no administrative costs. The Nation of Patriots website can be accessed at nationofpatriots.org or through the Nation of Patriots Facebook page.
As a Nation of Patriots volunteer group, we will also entertain an open ride to Forest City, Iowa, to attend Operation LZ-Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans during the time period from Aug. 26 to 30, when the traveling wall will be displayed honoring the 40th anniversary of the last troops coming home from Vietnam. The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall five-day event can be accessed online at www.operationlz.com.
