Helen Lykken, 1920-2015

Funeral services for Helen Harriet Lykken of Albert Lea will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Community Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Janet White will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at St. John’s Lutheran Chapel.
Helen died on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Community. She was 95.
Helen was born on Jan. 12, 1920, in Wyoming, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Lizzie (Christenson) Schreiber. Helen was the only one left of the 12 Schreiber children.
Helen graduated from Albert Lea High School with the class of 1939.
After graduation, she went to Minneapolis where she found employment and married Emil Lykken.
After working and living in Minneapolis, she and her husband retired and moved to Albert Lea.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Helen loved sports of all kinds, participating and watching. She loved playing softball and fishing.
She is survived by her husband, Emil and many nieces, nephews, and a sister-in-law.
