Landowners can receive assistance from flood damage

Landowners in Freeborn County can receive financial and technical assistance for damages done by flooding in 2014.

The Freeborn County Soil and Water Conservation District can assist landowners through the Disaster Recovery Assistance Program for the Flood of 2014.
The program’s purpose is to fund repairs of existing conservation practices damaged during floods last June and July.
Freeborn County was one of eight counties declared a major disaster by President Obama after the floods.
Eligibility focuses on state or federally funded erosion control and water quality protection practices. Examples include damage to grass waterways, water and sediment control basins or grade stabilization structures funded through programs such as State Cost Share, Environmental Quality Incentives Program or Conservation Reserve Program.

The deadline for program consideration is March 5.
