Freeborn County was one of eight counties declared a major disaster by President Obama after the floods.

Eligibility focuses on state or federally funded erosion control and water quality protection practices. Examples include damage to grass waterways, water and sediment control basins or grade stabilization structures funded through programs such as State Cost Share, Environmental Quality Incentives Program or Conservation Reserve Program.

Landowners who are interested can contact the Freeborn County Soil and Water Conservation District by calling 507-373-5607 or writing to 1400 W. Main St.

The deadline for program consideration is March 5.
