Program assists in filing taxes

We are in the fourth week of tax preparation at Senior Resources in the Skyline Plaza and have helped more than 250 people file returns. We have sponsored this great service for more than 10 years.

The eight highly trained volunteer preparers of AARP Tax Aide use our office space to file income taxes, renter’s credits and property tax credits for all ages with incomes less than $50,000 per year.

Last year Tax Aide filed 3,076 returns. This partnership is what collaboration, coordination and cooperation is all about. Senior Resources writes the grant and does all fiscal management, and the Tax Aide crew submits returns to the IRS. All for a donation to Senior Resources from all those receiving the service.

It’s a great partnership and a great service for many in Freeborn County. Tax Aide is available Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays until April 14. Call 377-7433 soon as time slots are limited.
