Sunday to be one of the coldest days this winter

Very cold wind chills were expected Saturday night and will continue until today, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind chill advisory started Saturday night and continues until noon today. Wind chills are expected to reach 25 to 35 below zero across southern Minnesota, according to the National Weather Service.

The cold winds began Saturday night and will last until today. Conditions will improve slightly this afternoon but wind chills will drop again Monday. Today will be the coldest day of the snap.

The coldest wind chill value will be between 6 and 10 a.m. today, and the National Weather Service said today will end up being one of the coldest days this winter.

Frostbite can occur in 30 minutes with wind chills this low, and hypothermia can occur if precautions aren’t taken.

From St. Cloud and Willmar towards the northwest, there is a wind chill warning and wind chills will be 30 to 45 below zero. Frostbite can occur in 10 minutes in these areas.
