BEMIDJI  — Prosecutors won’t bring charges in the death of a Bemidji State University nursing student who died while trying to walk home from a party.

Twenty-year-old Sandra Lommen of Bloomington left a Bemidji house party at 2 a.m. on Dec. 10. Police say Lommen intended to walk to her dorm room, but had been drinking and never made it there.

Lommen was found unconscious in the woods on the outskirts of Bemidji. She died of hypothermia shortly after.

Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin hoped charges would be brought against those who served alcohol to Lommen, who was underage.

Mastin said the case hinged on evidence gathered from social media.
