MINNEAPOLIS — A Grant County sheriff’s deputy vows to walk again following an accident while on vacation in Mexico.
Deputy Jeff Edwards broke a bone in his spinal column while body surfing in the Pacific Ocean two weeks ago. Two friends pulled him from the ocean. Edwards said if he had been alone, he might not have survived.
Edwards was flown to Abbott Northwestern Hospital and underwent surgery. The deputy still has no feeling in his lower body but hopes that will return once swelling in his spinal cord goes down.
Edwards says he’s working to walk again and although it may take a while, he’ll get through it.
An account to help pay his medical bills, including the flight from Mexico, has been set up at Kensington State Bank in Herman.
