ST. CLOUD — A group of Somali students and parents have brought their allegations of discrimination and bullying to a St. Cloud school.
More than 100 students and parents, most of them Somali, protested outside Technical High School on Wednesday. The group feels school administrators have not adequately responded to their concerns.
Protesters chanted slogans and waved posters on the school’s lawn. One student said the protesters feel administrators have not addressed conflicts between Somali and non-Somali students in the school.
District spokeswoman Tami DeLand says the administration “will definitely respond” to the concerns.
Students not involved in the protest were placed on containment inside the school. Officials say an unrelated argument placed the school on lockdown. That left students unable to move about the building.
