He also posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles and an 8-1 win with Kubler at No. 2 doubles Feb. 28 against Ripon College at Owatonna.

To NRHEG’s Maddie Wagner.thumb.up

Sophomore twins on the NRHEG girls’ basketball team, Maddie and Marnie Wagner, stepped up as leaders this season, and Maddie scored a team-high 16 points to surpass 1,000 for her career during the Panthers’ 60-48 win on March 7 against Maple River in the Subsection 2A South quarterfinals.

NRHEG had a tall order at the beginning of the season to fill the void left by all-time leading scorer, Carlie Wagner, and rebounder, Jade Schultz. The Panthers began the season 1-3 but rebounded with a six-game winning streak from Jan. 16 to Feb. 2 that propelled the team in its 14-12 overall record.

To trash left on the lakes.thumb.down

Every year at this time and particularly after all of the ice and snow have melted off the lakes, it becomes clear all the trash that has been left behind during the winter.

Please, if you are using the lake or land nearby for recreation at any time of the year, dispose of your trash properly. Our lakes are some of our city’s gems, and it is sad to see all of the litter that winds up in them.

As local groups move ahead to clean up our lakes, let’s see what we can do as individuals as well to clean up after ourselves. There should be no reason for this trash to end up there.

Get involved in spring lake cleanups. You’d be surprised at how much is taken out of the lakes those days.
