Marilyn Meyer

Marilyn Joyce was born on April 15, 1936, in Wells to Leo E. Dombroske and Thelma M. Whitmore. She married Edward (Bud) H. Meyer on Jan. 3, 1955, in Kiester. Mary Jo was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to sew and was always providing her daughters and grandchildren with many handmade items. After Bud passed away, she made sewing her way of maintaining her income. She worked as a seamstress and interior decorator in Bremerton, Washington for many years.

As a wife, she was dedicated to her husband for 21 years. After a tornado and fire, they moved to Colorado where their life was touched by a Baptist preacher. Both Mary Jo and Bud came to know the Lord through the testimony of this man. They both loved their church and served God in many ways. They always opened their home to missionaries when they came through. Bud passed away at the early age of 39, and Mary Jo was left to raise her children alone. It was a daunting responsibility but God gave her the strength.

As a mother, Mary Jo sacrificed many things to see that her children were raised in the way of the Lord. She did her very best, with God’s help to keep them in a Christian school and to give them the opportunity to go to Bible college.

Mary Jo loved her churches that she was involved with. She donated time in the ministry of the Christian school and when she lived in Washington, she loved to go out after church and play “Skip Bo” with her friends. She made it a point to be connected with missionaries and loved to receive their prayer letters.

Her children would like to thank every pastor who had a part in her life; in helping her to go forward and to not give up. She is resting not only in her Savior’s arms, but also in the arms of her first and only love, Bud. Cheryl is with them, and together they are rejoicing in heaven and waiting for the rest to get there!

Mary Jo is survived by her children Penny Meyer Clapp (Shawn), Terry Meyer (Annette) and Peggy Meyer Nord (Jon); grandchildren David, Christopher, Edward, Cassandra, Eric, Jennifer, Aaron, Justin, Amanda and Jason; great-grandchildren Tristan, David, Peyton, Xavier and Jayden; siblings Robert Dombroske, Lori Dombroske Walther (Rick) and Jodi Dombroske Dickerson (Don); and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret; parents Leo and Thelma; her husband, Edward “Bud;” and her daughter, Cheryl Meyer Cruickshank.
