Project: Connecting Creatively with Kids

Report: With this grant, the Albert Lea Art Center wants to expand its outreach to include regularly scheduled Saturday morning art classes for children in first through sixth grade.

Proposed classes for kids at the Art Center:

• Scrapping class: wan on Dec. 13

• Acrylic painting class: was in January 2015

• Storytelling class: was in February 2015

• Mosaic class: was in March 2015

• Jewelry making class: April 2015

Fiber arts class: May 2015

The Art Center will also sponsor or participate in the following yearly events for children and youth:

• Let’s Draw and Paint for first through sixth graders, a Community Education class taught by Beth Tostenson

• The Albert Lea Art Center student art show

• The Family Fun Festival at Northbridge Mall with a children’s art project at the Art Center booth

• An exhibition at the Heritage Festival at Northbridge Mall

• Face painting for kids at Wind-Down Wednesday

• A $500 volunteer-funded scholarship to the graduating class at Albert Lea High School
