SHAKOPEE — A Shakopee teacher is charged with soliciting sex from a boy he met at a theater group.

Thirty-four-year-old Andrew Hasty, of Cumberland, Wisconsin, has resigned from Shakopee Public Schools. He’s charged with three felonies after police said he asked a 15-year-old boy to send him photos of his genitals. Authorities said the two met at the Chaska Valley Family Theater drama group.

Hasty was a volunteer with the theater until Feb. 18. A statement released on behalf of Chaska Valley Family Theater said the theater has policies prohibiting offensive and unwelcome behavior, and “swiftly followed” those policies.

Investigators said there’s no evidence other juveniles were solicited. Hasty is being held in the Carver County Jail. It was not immediately clear if Hasty has a defense attorney.
