DES PLAINES, Ill. — Charges are pending against a man who allegedly fired a gun on a Minneapolis-bound Megabus shortly after it left Chicago.
About 50 people were on the bus around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when a gun was fired inside a bus bathroom. No one was injured.
Authorities said passengers tackled the man after he exited the bathroom and held him until the bus stopped at the Des Plaines oasis on I-90, where he was arrested.
According to a press release, passenger Kenneth Smith said that passengers acted after the man began harassing the bus driver.
Authorities stated the man isn’t cooperating and they’re awaiting fingerprint identification before filing charges.
Megabus spokesman Sean Hughes said passengers were transferred to another bus “out of abundance of caution” and continued the trip.
