Lakeview students get taste of culture

Between three classrooms and the school’s library, students learned Spanish through reading, practiced a hat dance, hit a piñata and tried different Mexican dishes. The festivities lasted for about an hour and showed the students different aspects of Mexican culture. Cinco de Mayo is a national holiday in Mexico that honors the country’s military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III.
