MAPLEWOOD — Police said a security guard shot and killed one of the six men who attacked him outside the Stargate Nightclub in Maplewood.
The man who died has been identified as 20-year-old Chou Tony Yang of St. Paul.
Police said it happened early Friday after the guard asked a 20-year-old patron to leave.
Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell said the patron and five other men chased the guard into the parking lot, where he fell, and the group attacked the guard. He said the guard fired, striking Yang, who died later at Regions Hospital.
Schnell said the other men involved in the fatal altercation fled the scene.
