5 vehicles in collision that brings traffic to a halt

Two Bricelyn women were injured Thursday afternoon after a five-vehicle rear-end collision on Interstate 35 south of Highway 14.

Julia Cheney, 55, was transported to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, and Rhonda Johnson, 60, was transported to Allina Health in Owatonna.

Four other people in the crash were not injured.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2003 Chevy Venture, 2005 Dodge Caravan, 2001 Dodge Ram, 2014 Nissan Infiniti and a 2014 Toyota Tacoma were involved in the crash. The crash took place at 3:40 p.m.

The report said all of the vehicles were traveling northbound on I-35.

Cheney was the driver of the Chevy Venture, and Johnson was her passenger.

The report listed Wendy Ambrose, 63, of Columbia Heights as the driver of the Dodge Caravan; Connie Ramsey, 74, of Earlham, Iowa, as the driver of the Dodge Ram; Brenda Doebber, 53, of Minnetonka as the driver of the Nissan Infiniti and George Brandtner, 28, of Jordan as the driver of the Toyota Tacoma.

It is unclear how the crash occurred.

All of the occupants were wearing their seat belts, and no alcohol was detected, according to the State Patrol.

Gold Cross Ambulance and Owatonna Fire assisted at the scene.
