The City of Albert Lea Street Department will begin the annual chip sealing of City streets beginning Monday.

Chip sealing involves placing a thin layer of oil on the street and then covering the oil with a layer of protective rock. The streets to be chip sealed this year include the streets between Richway Drive and Fountain Lake from Lakewood Avenue to Bridge Avenue, streets in the southwest section of the Shoreland Heights area, Sunset Street area, and Tiger Hills.

Temporary No Parking signs will be installed the day prior to placement of the chip seal and will remain until the streets have been swept, usually about three to four days.
