Douglas “Doug” Oppegard, 57, of Rowlett, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rowlett, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. He will be laid to rest beside his sister at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Scurry, Texas.

He was born Oct. 21, 1957, in Abilene, Texas, to Conrad and Shari (Walker) Oppegard. A resident of Rowlett for 11 years, Doug was a member of Tree of Life Lutheran Church. He was very quiet, but loved joking around. He was a fighter through his sickness. Doug enjoyed working on computers, building model cars, watching movies and sci-fi television shows. He loved animals and kids, and  especially spending time with his family.

Doug is survived by his father, Con Oppegard; mother, Shari Oppegard; sister, Debra Oppegard; uncles and aunts Gary and Karen Walker and Helen and Terry Pelcher; and cousins Leah, Chad and Nathan Walker, Andrew Pelcher, Kelly and Mark Walters and Chris Hanson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Darcy Oppegard; grandparents Lloyd and Lillian Walker and Kenneth and Florence Oppegard; and aunt and uncle Carol and Les Hanson.
