Floyd Marion Lackey Sr., 79, of Wells died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at his home. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, officiated by the Rev. Dennis Seiler. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells. Military honors will be accorded by the Wells color guard. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home of Wells is in charge of arrangements. Floyd Lackey Sr.

Floyd was born May 24, 1936, the son of Fred and Marguerite (Campbell) Lackey. He graduated from Wells High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mildred King, on Aug, 22, 1956. Floyd honorably served his country in the United States Army. He worked for 45 years at Wells Concrete until his retirement. In his younger years Floyd enjoyed stock car racing, and in his later years he enjoyed watching the races and following the racing career of Mark and Dave Noble. He was a member of the Wells American Legion. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and driving around in his car to watch his family hunt. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with them.

Floyd is survived by his children Floyd Jr. (Deb) of Wells, Lori (Merlyn) Swehla of Alden, Richard (Susan) of Alden, Aletha (Miguel) Ortiz of Albert Lea and Michelle (Mark) Lacher of Wells; grandchildren Eric and Tyler Lackey, Tiffany (Bruce) Parks, Brady and Trae Swehla, Tasha (Nate) Atchley, Stephanie (Lee) German, Jeffrey Lackey, Emily and Ricky Ortiz, Anna Schmid, Noemi Rosas, Maria Miranda, Michelle Lopez, Miguel Ortiz Jr. and Ryan and Taylor Lacher; great-grandchildren Dylan, Luke, Ryan, Josh, Leo, Oliver, Mason, Beau, Aurora, Beth, Makenna, Emilia, Guillermina, London, Alicia, Leticia, Gabi, Breanna, Mario, A.J., Victoria, Lorana, Elliot and Oliver; siblings David Prestholt and Lynda Vermedahl, both of Twin Lakes; and aunt, Betty Jones, of Albert Lea.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; granddaughter, Christine; parents; brothers Fred and Richard; and sister, Carole.
