The annual Glenville Days celebration is set to kick off Friday evening and will last through the weekend.

The festivities begin at 5 p.m. Friday with a scholarship supper. The Glenville Fire Department will serve free hot dog meals to kids 12 and under at this time. As the evening continues, there will be more activities including a co-ed softball tournament, a performance by Sheltered Reality drumline, a medallion hunt and a family friendly outdoor movie at 8:30 p.m. in the park. In the case of rain, the event will be moved to the high school.

Saturday’s activities start with the River Run/Walk. Sign up begins at 7 a.m. with the event starting at 8 a.m. at the park. Glenville-Emmons High School gym will host a pickleball tournament from 8 a.m. to noon. This event will be immediately followed by a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

The Glenville Days parade will be led by grand marshal Leif Martinson at 10 a.m. Martinson, who was named Firefighter of the Year by his peers on the Glenville Fire Department, was selected because of his outstanding service to the Glenville community.

Several kids games and activities start at 11 a.m. The Little King and Queen Contest will be at the tennis courts. Glenville Park will host a clown, inflatable jumpers, face painters and bovine bingo as well as a canvas and Kool-Aid art projects.

Glenville Community Boosters member Alyson Schulz said the group has partnered with the Albert Lea Art Center to add this event to their schedule. Schultz noted a few artists will pre-sketch drawings for kids to paint and some of these works of art will be showcased at the Albert Lea Art Center booth during Wind Down Wednesdays in downtown Albert Lea.
