Karen Loegering, 1944-2015

A memorial service for Karen M. Loegering, 70,  will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1101 U.S. Highway 69 in Albert Lea, with the Rev. Mark Boorsma officiating.

Karen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Community. She was born Sept. 29, 1944, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Elmore and Anna (Wolff) Steffen. She worked at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea before her retirement in 2006 and most recently was employed at Country Inn and Suites in Northwood.

Karen enjoyed working with patients and people. She also enjoyed fishing, crocheting and spending time with family.

She attended Albert Lea High School and graduated in 1962. In the summer of 1963, she was set up on a blind date with Jerry Loegering and they were married on Aug. 7, 1965. This year would have been their 50th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by loving husband of 50 years, Jerry; children Grace (Richard) Hatch, Mark (Susan) Loegering, Matt Loegering and Jody (Alan) Olson; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings Delila (Manuel Thomas) Schweizer, Elaine Ashley and Leon (Laura) Steffen; nieces; nephews; relatives; and good friends.

She is preceded in death by parents Elmore and Anna Steffen; and siblings Gloria Bandfield, Bud Steffen and Eleanore Brown.
