After placing second in their last three tournaments, the Albert Lea 11AA Knights came up short on Day 2 of the three-day Albert Lea Knights Baseball Classic, ending their run in the tournament.

The Stewartville Tigers bested the Knights 8-3 Saturday during pool play at Snyder Fields.

Knights coach Brad Fjelsta considered the weekend to be a success.

“I thought we hit the ball really well this weekend,” said Fjelsta. “From top to bottom.”

Fjelsta said each of the team’s pitchers pitched two innings, and that they’re only allowed to throw 10 innings over one weekend.

“It was fun for the kids,” said Fjelsta. “It’s about the kids and playing hard and learning the game.”
