NORWAY, Ore. — Authorities said two people died in a fire that destroyed a mobile home in the community of Norway, Oregon.
Coos County sheriff’s deputy John Cooper said the fire was reported Friday at about 8 a.m., and the front end of the house was fully engulfed when a nearby Coquille police officer arrived at the scene.
Firefighters joined the officer about five minutes later but couldn’t enter the burning structure. The flames were shooting more than 20 feet in the air.
County prosecutor Ryan Hughes said two adults died in the blaze. Their names were being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The home was located just off Highway 42 between Coquille and Myrtle Point.
The cause of the fire has yet to be released.
