Albert Lea Legion falls to Rochester Century

Despite hard hits, pitching still sunk the Albert Lea American Legion Post 56 baseball team.

The Rochester Century A’s defeated the Albert Lea Legion 6-2 Wednesday at Hayek Field.

Jake Kilby recorded the pitching loss for the Legion, allowing four runs on three hits and walking four in his two-inning appearance. Taylor Heavner pitched the remaining four innings in the rest of the game and allowed two runs on three hits, while walking two and striking out two.

“We got in the hole pitching early,” said coach Jay Enderson.

The loss brings the Legion to a record of 5-5.

“We hit the ball hard and had some hard hits,” said Enderson. “Parker Mullenbach hit well.”

Mullenbach was 1-3 with a double and one RBI. E.J. Thomas was 2-3 with a run scored, with Mason Hammer scoring the team’s other run of the game. Alex Bledsoe was 1-3 and Kole Smith was 2-4.

Next, the Legion hosts Owatonna in a doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Hayek Field.
