Editorial: Drive safe in all state work zones

With all the traveling that usually takes place over the Fourth of July holiday, we urge motorists to use extra caution while driving through highway work zones.
Though many projects will shut down during the holiday, MnDOT Commissioner Charlie Zelle, said the work zones will still be in place and may affect travel.
MnDOT advises motorists to pay attention in work zones, plan ahead and perhaps consider alternate routes. They should drive with caution, slow down and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
Construction projects in southern Minnesota include Interstate 35 from Albert Lea to Owatonna. There is single-lane traffic in both directions and slowed traffic. Also in southern Minnesota there is construction on Interstate 90 near Alden, between St. Charles and Eyota, and between Adrian and Rushmore, among others.
