Hazel Krueger, 1914-2015

Funeral Services for Hazel C. (Drommerhausen) Krueger, 100, of Albert Lea will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Pickerel Lake.  The Rev. Wendy Anderson will officiate. Interment will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery in Pickerel Lake.  Visitation will be from  4 to 7 p.m. Sunday  at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the church.

Hazel died on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea.

She was born in Freeborn County on Oct. 14, 1914, the daughter of Albert E. and Gertrude S. (Johnson) Drommerhausen. Hazel was a lifetime Albert Lea area resident.

She married Clarence Krueger on Nov. 24, 1935, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. They celebrated 45 years together before Clarence was called to his eternal home in 1980.They lived their life in Pickerel Lake Township until they moved to Albert Lea in 1980. Hazel spent her life helping on the farm and making a loving home for her family.

She  was a member of Concordia Lutheran Pickerel Lake Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aid, Dorcas Circle, the quilting group and the church choir. She enjoyed being active in the Kitchen Klatter Club.

She enjoyed all types of music. She played by ear and taught herself to play the piano and the accordion. She also enjoyed spending time vegetable and flower gardening.

Hazel was a resident of St. John’s Lutheran Community for the past 20 years.

Hazel is survived by three children, Betty Patterson of Albert Lea, Nordean Krueger and his wife, Dorothy, of Albert Lea and Marilyn and her husband, Dale Horning, of North St. Paul; grandchildren Brenda (David) Dickman of Austin, Julie Prust and her fiance, Burt Hoffman, of St. Peter, Alan (Kim) Lebeck of Manchester, Lori Londo Lebeck of Minneapolis, Mike (Lavonne) Krueger of Alden, Rick (Tammy) Krueger of Albert Lea, Sue (Mark) Horejsi of Albert Lea, Brent (Lori) Krueger of Albert Lea, Brenda Herr of Albert Lea, Jeffrey (Nikki) Horning of Oakdale, Douglas Horning of Maplewood and Bradley (Darla) Horning of Grant; great-grandchildren Rachel Dickman and fiance, Sean Selmecki, Megan Dickman, Nathan Prust, Laura Prust, Kayla (Joe) Neubauer, Stacia Lebeck, Marisa Londo, Alec Lebeck, Holly (Ryan) Draayer, Nicole (Joe) Brooks, Jennifer Krueger, Nadean Krueger, Stacy Krueger, Justin (Lindsey) Krueger, Ashley Krueger, Krista (Tony) Linn, Amy Horejsi, Lindsey Horejsi, Makenzie Herr, Addison Herr and Nathan Herr; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene Britson, of Racine, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Loren (Dorothy) Krueger, of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Krueger; brother, Roy Drommerhausen, and his wife, Nelberta; sister, Roselyn Pestorious, and her husband, Warren; sister, Margaret Krueger, and her husband, Harry; son-in-law, Jack Patterson; and grandson-in-law, Doug Herr.

Her home was  always filled with love and plenty of food.

Hazel will be missed and remembered for her giving spirit, thinking of everyone else first.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Concordia Lutheran Church of Pickerel Lake or Albert Lea Hospice.
