ST. PAUL — St. Paul’s city council will consider whether to pay a $50,000 settlement to a man who said he was treated with excessive force by a police officer.

The settlement with 28-year-old James Cannon and his attorneys was reached earlier this month. It is scheduled to go before the council Wednesday.

Cannon said he suffered a broken jaw when he was wrongly detained and treated with excessive force by a St. Paul police officer last September.
