To the Unlimited Possibilities Dance Studio dancers.
Dancers with the Albert Lea studio last month competed in the Masquerade National Competition in Minneapolis and took home many awards, even a platinum award, which is the highest award given out in the competition. Congratulations girls on a job well done.
To the Clarks Grove Heritage Society’s new museum.
About 20 years after interest in preserving Clarks Grove history first began, the Clarks Grove Heritage Society and others on Saturday celebrated the completion of a new museum in their city. We appreciate the efforts to preserve history. Thanks to all who contributed to the project in one form or another, and congratulations to the society for reaching this goal.
To the Freeborn County Historical Museum staff and Albert Lean Cathy Hay, a freelance writer for the Tribune.
In today’s edition of the Tribune, freelance writer Cathy Hay looks at the history of Albert Lea’s founder, Albert Miller Lea. In light of some recent discussion about the topic, we appreciate Hay’s diligence in tracking down the true history and for the museum staff who helped Hay gather this information.
The museum in Albert Lea, and others across the country, are a wealth of knowledge and include far more information about history than can be found in history books. Much of the history was found in news articles from that time period, and we applaud our local museum for making it a priority to keep these newspapers over the years.
To Albert Lea’s fireworks display.
Albert Lea’s annual fireworks display was rated No. 9 in the state in an article posted July 1 on www.onlyinyourstate.com.
The article listed fireworks in St. Paul and Minneapolis as No. 1 and 2, with Duluth’s display as No. 3.
It described Albert Lea as saying it has the largest parade in southern Minnesota on July 3 and the best fireworks show in the same part of the state on the Fourth of July.
Thanks to the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce, who organizes the fireworks, and all residents and businesses who donate to the display each year.
It’s that kind of teamwork that makes Albert Lea a great place to live.
