GENEVA — Dean’s Smoke Shack and Geneva Meats is one business that serves area residents in two different buildings in this small community.

Geneva Meats is at 75 E. Main in Geneva. Their customers can find someone to process whole or trim venison, beef, pork and lamb. Customers can bring in their own livestock or can ask for a custom order. The business owns its own herd of cattle and hogs and also utilizes local farmers to help meet the demands of their customers.

People looking for smoked meats, deli meats and cheeses or salads to compliment their main dish, need only look across the street to Dean’s. The smoke shack house features cooler after cooler filled with specialty meats, including their grand champion smoked brats and dill pickle bacon made by Dean Anderson, a sausage maker who has over 30 years of experience in the industry.

“Dean does an awesome job with the smoked meats,” according to store employee, and Dean’s wife, Kellie Anderson. She said the business continues to win Minnesota Meat Processor Association Awards for their meats every year they compete at the tri-state level.

The Andersons are part of a team that foregoes titles preferring to work as a cohesive team that caters to customers of any size. Clients who need grilling packages need only stop by or call in an order and staff will put it together for them, while wholesale customers and area restaurants receive the additional benefit of having products delivered.

As a United States Department of Agriculture certified meat processor, the company can also mail packages across the country. Kellie Anderson said this is a benefit to both wholesalers and individual customers as they’ve shipped items out to former area residents who have since moved on to live somewhere else but have refused to patronize another meat market.

Dean’s Smoke Shack and Geneva Meats are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, call 507-256-0025 or visit their website at www.deanssmokeshack.com.
