Danny Brackey, 1951-2015

Danny Lee Brackey died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at his home in Lake Mills. He was 63.

A memorial service was at 2 p.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. The Rev. Peter Soli officiated. Inurnment will take place at Synod Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church.

Danny Lee Brackey was born Dec. 5, 1951, and baptized at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, the son of Thelma Issacson-Brackey and the late Marvin Brackey. He was confirmed at Lime Creek Lutheran Church. Dan attended Lake Mills High School and later went to NIACC to complete his GED.

On July 28, 1979, he was joined in marriage to Pamela Sanden. They went on to have twin daughters, Ashley Christine and Rebecca Lynn. He later was employed at The Wreck, Byerly’s and Cummins Filtration.

Dan’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, golfing, playing cards at Isaac Walton’s, playing pool, bowling and watching Lake Mills football games. Dan always enjoyed a simple life, spending time with family and friends and his two dogs, Molly and Corky.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Brackey; his daughter, Becky Brackey-Shaw (Casey Shaw); his daughter, Ashley Brackey-Lawson (Randy Lawson); his parents Thelma and Ray Isaacson; his sisters Patti Hissam (Dave Hissam), Diane Brackey, Deb Bergland and Robert Brackey (Julie Brackey); his uncle, Claire Brackey (Phyllis Brackey); special cousins Steven Benson (Della Benson), Katie Benson-Wubben (Mark Wubben) and Trevor Benson (Molly Benson); along with many friends and cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great-niece.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Brackey; his uncles Adler Brackey, Judien Benson, Snooky (Vernon) Brackey, Johnny Benson, Arlie Brackey, Burnell Brackey and Norris Brackey; grandma, Mabel Brackey; nephew, Scott Brackey; and grandparents Thea and Lewis Askildson.
