Don Christensen, 85, filled with peace and hope from his deep Christian faith, made a final “takeoff” into his Lord’s arms. His departure was peaceful, while surrounded by his loving family and pastor Monday, Aug. 3, 2015.

Don was born on March 5, 1930. He met Julaine Erdahl at Albert Lea High School when they were 16 years old and for the next 69 years he deeply loved her, their children and his church. He owned Don’s Automotive Repair Shop but always said he’d rather be flying, writing poetry or sharing a quiet moment with friends, family and strangers, alike.

Don loved his EAA days at Oshkosh, fly-ins, time spent with friends, musical events, singing in the church choir and Cantori, quiet walks, Sons of Norway dinners, and working for his customers. He was always reaching out to help others.

Donald is survived by his wife, Julaine; his four daughters, four sons and their families: Jacqueline and Bob Craig, Heather, Bethany, Beau, Maggie and great-grandchild Caroline Julaine; Jodell and Jon Greiner, Brad, Erik and Kate; Judy Christensen and Rocky Waldin, Alexis and Taylor; and Jayne and Larry Breid, Aaron, Rachel and Daniel; dear sister, Donna Jinright and family; Julaine’s family, Joyce Erdahl, John and Sally Erdahl and their families. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Daniel.

Heartfelt thanks from the family to the caregivers at Martin Luther Care Center and Meadow Woods Assisted Living, and to the family’s dearest friends, Donna and Roger Cornick and the late Linda and Harold Dahl for all of their love and support.

Don’s family will greatly miss his friendly smile, kind blue eyes, positive outlook on life, tender heart and endless love for his entire family.

A memorial celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 29 at Martin Luther Care Center, 1401 E. 100th St., Bloomington, MN, 55425. You are invited to join in person or offer a prayer in Don’s memory if you are unable to attend.
