Lynx defeat Stars

MINNEAPOLIS — Maya Moore scored a game-high 32 points, Lindsay Whalen became the third player in WNBA history to record 2,000 career assists and the Minnesota Lynx clinched a playoff berth with an 83-76 victory over the San Antonio Silver Stars on Tuesday night at the Target Center.
The Silver Stars, who came into the game with an 0-11 road record, outworked the Lynx in the first two quarters en route to a 46-35 halftime lead. But Minnesota’s new Big Three keyed a big second half and gave the Lynx a lead they never relinquished.
Moore, Whalen and newly acquired center Sylvia Fowles combined for 23 of the team’s 30 third-quarter points and ignited a 20-6 run.
Whalen had six assists in the quarter to become the third player in WNBA history with 2,000 assists. She finished with seven points and nine assists.
Fowles scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
