Marie A. Kuiters, 99, of Clarks Grove went home to be with the Lord Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at The Cedars of Austin.

Marie was born May 12, 1916, in rural Pine County, to Charles and Sophie (Mischka) Minar.  Marie attended a one room country school near her family’s farm.  At 16, she attended the Southern School of Agriculture Southern Campus.  While at school, she met Jacob Kuiters and they were married Nov. 13, 1934, in Carlton County. Together, with his family, they farmed west of Hollandale.  In 1941, they moved to their farm near Clarks Grove.  Jacob died in 1998 and Marie continued to live on the farm until 2011. Throughout her life, she was active as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher and was involved with Mother’s Club at District 23 and Homemakers Clubs. Marie was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed needlework.  She was a wonderful cook and baker.  She loved making birthday cakes for everyone in the family and made and decorated many wedding cakes for her grandchildren.
