ST. PAUL — The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office said the man who fatally shot a teenager in a St. Paul park last month won’t face charges.
Court documents state 16-year-old Lavauntai Broadbent had a gun and was trying to rob the man when he shot the teen July 31 in Shadow Falls Park.
According to a press release, the man who shot Broadbent is identified in court documents only by his initials and had a valid permit to carry a gun. He administered first aid to the boy after the shooting while others with the suspect fled the scene.
Four other teenagers have been charged with attempted robbery and other crimes.
