Wilma Mavis Leland, 73, of Bricelyn died on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bricelyn Lutheran Church. The Rev. Nancy Dreier will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bricelyn Lutheran Church and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Wilma was born April 14, 1942, in Lake Mills, the daughter of Cyril and Hester (Randall) Hockenson. She graduated as the salutatorian of Lake Mills High School in 1960. After graduation she worked at the Lake Mills Graphic. On April 2, 1967, she married David Leland at Bethel Lutheran Church in Vinje, Iowa. Wilma was the secretary at Bricelyn Lutheran Church for over 25 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Wilma was an avid sports fan, always cheering on her children and grandchildren as well as the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Wilma loved bowling, was a den mother and was active in Al-Anon. She attended many antique tractor shows and tractor pulls with her husband. She enjoyed water aerobics and was a supporter of the Bricelyn pool. Wilma was very proud of her home, which she designed.

Wilma is survived by her husband, David; children Bradley (Beth) Leland of Bricelyn, Douglas (Lisa) Leland of Albert Lea and Kristine (Michael) Songstad of Emmons; grandchildren Seth (Jessica) Holland, Trevor (Emily) Leland, Lexi (Andrew) Scholten, Lizzy Leland, Liam Holland, John and Brandon Leland, Allison (special friend, Jacob Sorensen) Songstad and  Jacob and Caleb Songstad; great-grandchildren Wyatt and Simon Holland and baby Scholten on the way;  sister, Nylene (Ken) Mannes, of Lake Mills; mother-in-law, Erma Leland, of Bricelyn; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Dale (Margaret) Leland of Burnsville and Barb Leland of Bricelyn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Virgil Hockenson; and father-in-law, Edgar Leland.
