Blue Zones Project of Albert Lea recently announced that the Albert Lea Family Y has been named a Blue Zones worksite. Staff at the Y celebrated their designation at their annual board retreat. The business was designated after completing the necessary items in the Blue Zones worksite pledge, including successfully registering more than 25 percent of their employees to pledge and take action on www.bluezonesproject.com. The Family Y now joins 14 other Albert Lea worksites in achieving the Blue Zones worksite designation.

According to a press release, the Albert Lea Family Y has been a leader and champion for both community and employee well-being in Albert Lea for many years. They have pioneered best practices and through their dedicated staff they have provided outreach to all sectors of our community. The Family Y was a driving force in the original Blue Zones Pilot Project and they continue to provide that level of excellent leadership today.

“Employers and their worksites continue to champion the Blue Zones Project and are playing a lead role in bringing increased overall well-being to Albert Lea and the surrounding areas,” said Blue Zones Project Program Manager Ellen Kehr.
