Body found in farm field is missing student

ALEXANDRIA — An autopsy has confirmed that a body found in a farm field in west-central Minnesota is that of a missing college student.
The Douglas County sheriff’s office said Friday that the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that the remains are those of 18-year-old Laura Ann Schwendemann, a freshman at the University of Minnesota- Morris from Starbuck.
A farmer in Orange Township found her body Monday afternoon.
Investigators have said Schwendemann was last seen Oct. 14 at a gas station in Alexandria with a man known to her.
The cause of death has not been released and complete autopsy results remain pending. The sheriff’s office said the investigation into the circumstances of her death is ongoing.
