John Steven Vogel, 86, of Wells died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at The Shepherd’s Inn in Wells. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church. The Rev. Andrew Vogel will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Casimir Cemetery in Wells. John Steven was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Wells, the son of Kenneth and Marie (Hennessy) Vogel. He was a lifelong resident of Wells. He attended St. Casimir Parochial School and Wells High School. John honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1971. After retiring from the Air Force he worked for many years as the bartender at Wells Municipal Liquor Store. John was known as “The Walking Man,” and loved to walk around town.

John is survived by his brothers Kenneth of Minnetonka and Mark Daniel (Beverly) of North Carolina; sisters-in-law Kathleen of New Prague and Joan of Plymouth; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Marilyn Bartholomew, Mike, Jim and Pat; and sister-in-law, Penny.
