Funeral services for Mary E. “Betty” Martinson, 89, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Russell Scepaniak will officiate. Interment will be at St. Theodore’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Betty died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Lake Mills Care Center.

Mary E. “Betty” Martinson was born Nov. 5, 1925, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Frank and Gert (Carey) Lair. Betty grew up in rural Emmons and graduated from Emmons High School in 1943.

On July 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Martinson. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Twin Lakes, where she was active in the altar society. Betty was also a member of the Emmons Legion Auxiliary. Betty was a homemaker, owned and operated the Corner Store in Emmons, and worked for Larson Manufacturing in Lake Mills.

Survivors include her children Mary (Paul) Sorenson, Michael (Jane) Martinson, Danny (Becky) Martinson, Barbara Vermedahl and Mark (Laurie) Martinson; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Hengesteg; brothers Francis Lair and James (Verlis) Lair; brother-in-law, Don Martinson; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; a great-grandchild; grandson-in-law, John Larson; sister, Margie Mackay; sister, Maxine; brother, Webster; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
