Woman was not wearing a helmet

KIESTER — An Iowa woman was seriously injured Sunday morning after she crashed her motorcycle in Kiester.
Karie Marie Pengilly of Rake, Iowa, was transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea before she was airlifted to a Rochester hospital with significant injuries, according to the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the crash at 10:51 a.m. on West State Street at the intersection of South Fifth Street.
It is unclear how Pengilly crashed the motorcycle.
Pengilly was not wearing a helmet, and no one witnessed the crash, according to reports.
Pengilly received citations as a result of the crash.
She was listed in fair condition Monday afternoon.
Kiester Ambulance assisted at the scene.
1 injured in separate crash
One person was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a two-car rear-end crash Monday afternoon at the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and Third Street.
Both vehicles were reportedly heading north on Broadway Avenue.
Ana Baltazar, 31, of Albert Lea, the driver of the lead vehicle, a 2016 Chevy Traverse, slowed to make a left-hand turn onto Third Street. The second vehicle, a 2004 Honda CRV, driven by Jesse Manuel, 26, of Albert Lea, reportedly rear-ended the Traverse.
Baltazar was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.
