Next magazine will be Christmas-centered

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”

At least here at the Tribune we can say that, as we prepare for our next issue of Albert Lea magazine.

We’re wrapping up our November/December issue this week, and we are excited to get it out to you, our readers, at the end of the month!

With Christmas fast approaching, you can expect several holiday-related stories in it, including articles on baking with children and how to decorate with Christmas items you may already have around the house.

There’s a feature about Jill Ehrhardt, owner of Fat Jill’s out of Northwood, including her history of baking and even some of her favorite recipes for holiday treats. Jill was a fun person for our team to photograph at the Tribune, and she has a great sense of humor that was pleasant for us all to be around. We can say firsthand that Jill’s cupcakes were a real treat after she provided us with some samples.

There are also columns about mindful eating and about finding motivation to stay fit at this time of the year. Another story talks about local ways to exercise in the winter.

Lastly, one of the highlights for this magazine will be from a photo shoot we had at West End Architectural Salvage inside the Freeborn National Bank Building. Our two models, sisters Jill Koehler and Beth Hansen, showcased clothing from area stores that coincided with fall fashion tips by Albert Lea’s very own Jean Eaton.

Jill and Beth were naturals, and it was a lot of fun to watch as the photo shoot unfolded.

Not to mention, we loved checking out all of the furniture and other items in the store while we were there.

I don’t want to give it all away, but it’s going to be a great issue!

With our magazine editor Hannah Dillon moving home to Milaca, I am the editor for this issue and at least for the immediate future.

I encourage you to let us know your thoughts on the magazine. Let us know what you like and don’t like, and if you have any ideas for something we can do in the future, please contact me. This is Albert Lea’s magazine.

Now if we can just keep the cold weather away, although I guess it wouldn’t feel like Christmas without snow and cold temperatures.
