The Straight River rest area for Interstate 35 northbound will close Oct. 29 and will not reopen until its reconstruction is completed according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Barricades will be placed in front of the exit to the rest area, which is about seven miles south of Owatonna. Signs identifying rest stop options will be adjusted to reflect the closure.
The rest area will be closed until June 2017 while it is demolished and then reconstructed. A new facility will be built to replace the current structure and additional truck parking will be added to the site.
