2 injured in rollover crashes

1 person transported to rochester, another to hospital in Austin

Two Austin residents were hospitalized after separate rollovers on Sunday in the area.

In the first incident, Katie A. Low, 34, of Austin was driving a Chevy GMT 400 truck eastbound on Interstate 90 around 4:38 a.m. when it ran off the road, hit a guardrail fence and rolled into the ditch in  eastern Freeborn County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Low was transported by Mayo One helicopter to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester for injuries believed to be not life-threatening.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, the Albert Lea Police Department and Hayward Fire assisted on the scene.

In the second incident, Chelsie B. Thorton, 24, of Austin, was driving a 2014 Chevy Spark southbound on Highway 218 when it crossed the northbound lane, drove into the ditch and rolled, according to a State Patrol report.

Thorton was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin for injuries believed to be not life-threatening.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office and Austin Police Department assisted on the scene.
