Car rear-ends another on shoulder

Two Albert Lea residents were transported to St. Marys Hospital Tuesday afternoon after a car crash in Goodhue County.

Daniel T. Cardona, 22, and Nicolas T. Cardona, 23, both received injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The report stated the crash took place after Erick V. Greogor, 48, of Bayfield, Wisconsin, was heading north on U.S. Highway 52 in a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix, and collided with a 1994 Ford Tempo driven by Nicolas Cardona, 23, on the northbound shoulder. The collision took place north of Minnesota Highway 60 at 1:29 p.m., according to the State Patrol.

Daniel Cardona was a passenger in the Ford Tempo.

Greogor was transported to St. Marys Hospital with injuries deemed not life-threatening.

Alcohol was reportedly not a factor in the crash.

The Grand Prix sustained major damage and the Tempo was totaled, according to the State Patrol.

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office and Zumbrota police, fire and ambulance assisted on scene.

The State Patrol listed the crash as a rear-end collision, and both Daniel and Nicholas Cardona were listed as wearing their seat belts.
