On March 2, 1952, Kent was united in marriage to Helen A. Brackey at North Prairie Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa. The couple farmed together on their family farm and in northern Minnesota, near Baudette. Kent was a lifelong member of Round Prairie Lutheran Church and a member of the Eagles and Elks.
