St. Theodore Catholic School is just one of many organizations, including Senior Resources and the Salvation Army, which will participate in Give to the Max Day Thursday in Albert Lea.
The event, dubbed the “Great Minnesota Give Together,” has raised awareness for schools and nonprofits. Launched in 2009, the mission of Give to the Max Day is to ignite generosity and grow giving in the state.
According to St. Theodore Catholic School Principal Sue Amundson this is the third year that the school has participated in the event. People can contribute by visiting www.givemn.org website and searching for St. Theodore.
“This year we have also received matching funds totaling $2,000 from Mrs. Gerry’s; Schipp’s Tanker Kleen; Peterson, Kolker, Haedt & Benda Ltd.; and Hill, Larson, Walth & Benda, P.A.” Amundson said.
“There is a minimum contribution of $10, which will be matched dollar for dollar from these organizations. Our goal for this event is to raise $10,000 for the purchase of 15 Chromebooks, mobile charging cart, and network upgrades, along with a much needed social studies curriculum.” Organizations often hold events and activities throughout the day. At St. Theodore Catholic School, the day will begin with serving hot chocolate at morning drop off to remind parents about the event and to distribute flyers for them to hand out during the day. The day of giving will be monitored with regular updates sent out through announcement, email and the St. Theodore PSA Facebook page.
According to a press release, St. Theodore Catholic School is a treasure in the Albert Lea community that offers its students small class sizes, academically challenging classes and most importantly, is a place where children are taught to live like Jesus taught, “Enlivened by the spirit of freedom and charity.”
