Presentation on Islam scheduled

Doherty, The Employment Experts, will host “Understanding Muslim Customs and Perspectives” from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Gainey Room at Owatonna Public Library.

Doherty invites the public to this engaging educational presentation, featuring special guest lecturer Shah Khan, president of the Islamic Center of Minnesota. According to a press release, Khan will share his extensive knowledge and first-hand insights on the customs and perceptions of Muslims in today’s workplace.

Shah Khan is a Ph.D. in biochemistry and works as a scientist with a biotech company. After serving two terms as communications director on the Islamic Center of Minnesota Board, Khan was elected as president and is currently serving his second term. Khan is a regular participant in interfaith dialogue, open panel discussions, and lectures on Islam, Islamic beliefs and Muslim culture in churches, synagogues, schools, universities and other public places. He regularly gives Friday sermons in mosques in the Twin Cities and teaches Islamic Studies in ICM Sunday school. Khan is also a member of the Joint Religious Legislative Coalition board of directors.
